Radio Signal Absorption and Penetration

As this graphic illustrates, different mediums and different building fabrics could cause wireless signal absorption and disruption of radio signal communication levels.

  • Aluminium backed plasterboard and metal cabinets could prove difficult to penetrate and will adversely affect the received signal strengths.
  • Steel-reinforced concrete pillars are virtually impenetrable by radio signals, and will most likely cause signal blind-spots
  • If a nearby fire door is held back via an energised door magnet, then the door must be closed as part of a correctly conducted survey.
