In certain circumstances, the addition of an Expander in a position where its signal to a field device in relation to the surrounding building structure (c and a) will result in a far stronger signal than that between the Translator and the same field device (b), because of the amount of building material along the signal pathway. Using Expanders in this way can overcome signal issues or blackspots on certain sites.
NOTE: Radio signal absorption and penetration factors are precisely why wireless surveys must be conducted on every project, to ensure optimum reliability. Hochiki cannot guarantee an Ekho system where survey results aren’t produced upon request.
